1980
Cantina Developments Ltd is founded by Javaid and Henrietta Naqvi
After leaving the mentorship of Dr. Allard at Allard Developments, Javaid (“Jerry”) Naqvi and his wife Henrietta start the company called “Camtina Developments Ltd”. The name was a combination of their two first children, Cam and Tina.
1995–1998
Jerry acquires the land that becomes South Edmonton Common
Jerry sells all his current real estate assets (and outs his home as collateral) to purchase 320 acres of land from CP Rail on a vendor takeback. Working with the City of Edmonton, he rezones the area for retail and brings in Home Depot in 1997 and Wal-Mart in 1998 as the first tenants in what is now called “South Edmonton Common”. It remains as one of the largest and most successful open-air retail centres in the country,
2002
Cameron Homes Division begins and builds its first house.
Rose Naqvi-Parasynchuk, as VP of Cameron Homes, leads the division with her husband Darcey Parasynchuk. Cameron Homes is the master homebuilder for the Cameron Group of Companies.
2005–2008
Currents of Windermere begins development with its first anchor tenant.
After joining forces with Harvard Developments (a Saskatchewan-based, family-owned developer), Cameron Corporation purchases the land in Southwest Edmonton to create a new type of mixed-use development. Wal-Mart is the first anchor to open at Currents of Windermere in 2008.
2011
Cameron Communities is established.
Cameron Communities is established as the residential development division of the Cameron Group of Companies.
2014
Cameron Lifestyles is established.
Cameron Lifestyles is established as the multi-family, residential rental division of the Cameron Group of Companies. The first apartment starts construction in Northeast Edmonton and is called “Harmony at Hollick Kenyon”.
